Did the research, selected the agencies that accepted emailed submissions.
This week I was ready to start querying STAYING LOST: MG/TWEEN complete in 42,000 words.
I wrote four queries and hit SEND.
The first reply came along quite quickly: bad news with a sprinkling of good on the top
Dear Elaine Smith,
You write well and this is a good adventure but not really what we’re looking for at this agency so will wish you luck with someone else. Sorry

I can cope with this kind of rejection. My fingers hurt. *hopefully twisted ;)
As they say; some response is betteer than no response.ReplyDelete
But yeah, it still hurts to be rejected.
Keep going, you'll get there.

Thanks -- I am encouraged.
It read true.
It's sad that you got rejected, but the rejection was quite nice.ReplyDelete
Good luck with querying!
It's a "warm handshake", better than a "cup of tea", or a "cold shoulder" rejection? *grins
I'm sorry, but you will find someone.ReplyDelete
Whatever happened with NEAR EDGEWARE?
It is out in full - but I think sleeping on the hard drive ;)
I don't think I'll ever really give up on it - but time and place is all :/
That's a promising reject. Good luck. Someone will say yes and you'll get that call.ReplyDelete
I'd have my fingers crossed but it would make so many tasks next to impossible ;)
You'll definitely get the call. This is the kind of no that leads to a yes. Keep on going!ReplyDelete
