LIFE IS TOO SHORT NOT TO ENJOY IT

THIS IS MY INSPIRATION FOR THE THINGS I
SHOULD BE DOING TO, ACTIVELY, ENJOY EACH DAY
I've been giving myself grief over not writing the new book more quickly. I have written a little, sometimes as little as a paragraph a day, for a week.

It isn't that I don't love the idea, primarily centred around Lucas and Rowland at Tallin School, but I have soup for brains.

I've kept myself busy doing other things I love:

  • Blogging
  • Tweeting
  • Reading
  • Thinking
  • Outdoor and indoor sports - where I have to pick up the ball/shuttle a million time dues to inattention
  • Spending time with my son
  • And waiting

This morning's news from Japan, when so many lives were washed away - and nature pointed out that our concerns are, in the scheme of things, little and petty - reminded me to celebrate being safe, happy and having the opportunity to be creative and productive.

Are you doing what you love, at least a little bit, every day? Life is too short not to enjoy it!

  1. Excellent reminder. Especially on a day like today, with so much tragedy in the news, we need to remind ourselves of this simple fact.

  2. I don't see a reason to be hard on yourself for not writing faster. All that really does is put attention on the wrong thing. Write, read, draw, dance, fart, laugh. Do it all and have fun.

  4. Hi Lindsay
Starting my day with my normal chatty radio presenter being one step away from tears was a lesson in what is really important. My thoughts are with everyone affected by the harshness of nature.

    Hi Ivy
Thank you for this reason to smile - i'll never think about writing fast again, in the same way I did before :D

    Hi Michelle
    You are welcome :)
It is too easy to be unreasonable. There are so many other things, creative or not, that demand our attention.

  5. G'day Elaine,
Just wanted to tell you this little fact; you are indeed one awesome lady. Today's tragedy gives us that push we need to take the time to smell the roses indeed. Thank you for the post, very inspiring.

@The Happy Whisk, Thank you young lady for the laugh! ;D

  6. Very true. This week wasn't so great for me writing-wise. But I managed a little. I guess we shouldn't beat ourselves up to much about it. :)

  7. Hi Kingskidd
You make a good point - the roses did smell sweet from here. I'm glad we were all able to appreciate what we have. :)

    Hi Jennifer
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who found their work sludged along this week. For us all there is always next week. :)

  8. So true. It's sad that it takes a tragedy to wake us up sometimes. We do get so caught up in all the 'stuff'.
