WEEKEND WRITING WARRIORS - 8 SENTENCES ON SUNDAY

If you are interested in follow this link: WWR

As I am a weekend-only writer of romance, Darrah is still having trouble ignoring Hale.

Balanced on an outcrop on the ridge, some distance away, the overlapping tiles on the soles of his shoes curving to provide effective grip, Hale watched Darrah track through the trees.
Like a natural predator, she moved swiftly, stealthily, without disturbing the habitat. Had she always been this skilled in the forest? Was this the area of her training she had excelled at?  Is this why they had selected her to find heir apparent, Erishden?
He wondered at the easy finger that stroked the bark of the tree, and he smiled at the dexterity of her friend who jumped away when she spun to face him raising her short bow and deadly arrow in one deliciously smooth action. He heard her Factor whispered, “Koman, Darrah? Is something wrong?”

  1. Very interesting #8Sentence. Wonder what made Darrah whirl around - what she sensed or heard or ?. Nice tension and good hook at the end.

    1. Thank you, Susan. Factor Rylo was guilty of making his superior officer spin - but he wasn't responsible for the venom she put into it.

    1. Hi Joanne
Thank you. She was too absorbed in trying to straighten out her feelings to hear anything approach at all ;)

  5. Great 8! You really set the scene well and yet revealed the character with how you described him watching her. Lovely job! I'm looking forward to more!

    1. Hi Lauren
For a person who writes romance for no more than three hours a week, even I'm looking forward to writing even a little bit more ;) I've caught the posting bug again - this will either help or get right in the way of the writing.

    1. Hi Veronica
Hale, the Sarkisian Liaison, is - along with Darrah - my favourite character in DRAWN.

Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the Forest of Drer. I'm even more delighted that it was the element of Voice that you enjoyed too.

  8. Very nice snippet...just out of curiosity, what are the "tiles" on his shoes? I feel certain it's something I just don't know about...

  9. Watching her and admiring how she tracks...you can feel the tension even though there is no confrontation. Nice!

    1. Hi J.Rose
Thank you for your kind words. I have to admit this is post-First Contact, Komantack Darrah is not usually one for being so absorbed in her thoughts her own sub - Factor Rylo - can get that close with out her pulling her leader-persona back in to place.

    1. Hi Elaine
Sark Hale Tarla is used to isolation - and keeping to the rocks - but he is a lot less used to being fascinated. He's a little high at the moment too. Well, if he will allow the temptation to allow an angry Darrah to tackle him - and take him down - knowing her leg would come into contact with his... that's what he gets ;)

Thank you. The word delicious was an attempt to show his admiration, currently bemused state, and his fascination for our feisty MC.

Thank you too ;) Can't you tell he's about to take a metaphorical dive: first contact might have been semi-accidental but amongst Sarkisians contact is known to be addictive to humans. He's about to hit the first of Seven Levels of Bad.
